The rules of the game
Quick to understand, deep to master.
The goal of the game
Close as many squares as possible on the grooved board. Each closed square earns you points — and the move comes with the shout that gives the game its name: “ÉCHEC O CUBE!”
The equipment
- A grooved board
- Light pawns (worth 1 point) and dark pawns (worth 2 points)
- Neutral red pawns, which mark the zones where no more points are possible
How to play
- 2 to 4 players take turns inserting a pawn into the board's grooves.
- Golden rule: two pawns of the same colour can never touch.
- When your pawn closes a square, you score the corresponding points — and you shout “ÉCHEC O CUBE!”.
- The shout is part of the rule: if you forget to shout, another player can steal your points.
